“In The NA” by The Hidden Cameras
Arranged and written by frontman Joel Gibb, The Hidden Cameras’ “In The NA” is convoluted as ever, something his Canadian band is known for. Their fifth studio album, Origin:Orphan, is scheduled for release September 22, 2009. It will be the band’s first release on Arts & Crafts (The American Analog Set, Broken Social Scene, Phoenix). QMagazine tweeted in favor of this video earlier today calling it, “Absolutely ridiculously brilliant.”
“Your Hand In Mine” by Liam Frost (Feat. Martha Wainwright)

“Pressure” by Company of Thieves
Company of Thieves is an indie rock trio from Chicago, Illinois. They released thier debut album, Ordinary Riches, back in February. They’ve been compared to Rilo Kiley and some hear similarities in vocalist, Genevieve Schatz, and the Welsh singer Duffy. To me, she sounds more Australian than Welsh.
“Boys & Girls” by Martin Solveig and Dragonette
This has to be my pick of the week! The man at the desk in the beginning of this video is French designer Jean-Paul Gaultier. Martin Solveig, the male principal in this video, lives in Paris and is a house DJ there. He has four albums but this song is simply a single. It features Martina Sorbara and the rest of the Canadian band Dragonette.
“Wanna Go Back” by The Lovemakers
The Lovemakers have released their single, “See What I Wanna See” from their sophomore full-length album Let’s Be Friends. On September 8, 2009 the album will be available on iTunes and it will hit retail on September 15th, 2009. I really like this band photo. I think it’s the floral rug. Anyway, join the mailing list and you can download this song for free!
“New York, Not Her” by The Literary Greats
Houston Locals, The Literary Greats, perform at the downtown Continental Club regularly. Check them out Thursday night at 10pm for the reasonably priced cover of $5. They have a self-titled album containing “New York, Not Her” embeded below, courtsey of Muzorama.
“Obsessions” by Marina and the Diamonds
Marina Diamandis is Marina and the Diamonds, a Welsh artist based in London. Her Crown Jewels EP was released in June 2009 and a debut LP is expected for late 2009 or early 2010. “Obsessions” is off of her debut single Obsessions/Mowgli’s Road.
