“Lotus Eaters” by Sarah Kirkland Snider
I love Shara Worden. Trained classically, she became part of a band called My Brightest Diamond. Then she played The Queen in The Decemberists’ Hazards of Love. Now, she performs with acclaimed chamber orchestra Signal, on Penelope. Penelope is a song cycle by composer Sarah Kirkland Snider, with lyrics by playwright Ellen McLaughlin.

“I Saw The Light” by Erin McCarley
Erin McCarley recently went into the studio to record her own version of the Hank William’s classic “I Saw The Light”. She teamed up with the brand, Stetson, and they styled and shot a video look book for the song!
Also, filmmaker Jeff Wyatt Wilson went out on the Summer ’08 Ten Out of Tenn Tour and captured over 100 hours of video, edited it down to 91 minutes and will be releasing the film, Any Day Now. The artists featured are Trent Dabbs, Erin McCarley, K.S. Rhoads, Tyler James, Griffin House, Butterfly Boucher, Katie Herzig, Matthew Perryman Jones, Jeremy Lister, Andy Davis and drummer Will Sayles. For more information visit the film’s official website.

“Gather Round” by Graham Czach
VERSATILE CHICAGO BASED SINGER-SONGWRITER AND MULTI-INSTRUMENTALIST FUSES MODERN AND PROGRESSIVE ROCK SENSIBILITIES WITH OLD SCHOOL SOCIAL CONSCIOUSNESS, MAKING THE WORLD MORE ‘LUCID’ FOR EVERYONE.

The Chicago Music Award Winner’s Solo Debut Features Drummer Kris Myers (Umphrey’s McGee), Keyboardist Matt Nelson (Lupe Fiasco, Matthew Santos) and Guitarist Chris Siebold (Howard Levy, Kick The Cat)—Plus Brilliant Artwork By Legendary Album Artist Jeff Jordan (The Mars Volta). ~ Album art and artist introduction provided by Chrissy Sutphin of LUCK Media & Marketing, Inc.
After digging a little deeper into Czach’s debut, Lucid, I must give praise to his extensive use of classical instrumentation and his fervent voicing of pain, enlightenment, controversy, and benevolent behavior. His range of style is also worth noting. For example, “True Love” is gentle, orchestral, and wraithlike while “Nightmare” brings hard guitar and percussion into the mix. “Gather Round” pays tribute to John Lennon and adopts the familiar chorus of “Across The Universe.” What I love about this song is the choir that joins him about half way through.

“Too Much” by Sufjan Stevens
The Age of Adz, the first song-based full-length album from Sufjan Stevens in five years, is out today. NPR is featuring the second song on the album, “Too Much.” You may download it for free at Band Camp.
Here is what NPR says about the track: ” ‘Too Much’ opens with a miniature apocalyptic air raid — little tectonic explosions that morph into a deep groove as Stevens relays an angst-ridden account of regret and uncertainty. The song builds into a gorgeous, synthetic force field of huge proportions, with cameos from nearly every member of the orchestra. The chilly electronic undercurrent remains, though, tossing a wrench into the delicate textures with which Stevens has become so identified. But it’s also an exciting reminder that he never stands still for long.”
